After reading so many other blogs, I decided to jump in with both feet and try my own. Wow! I'm finding out just how technologically challenged I really am. I probably could get a wealth of info from any of my older kids, but I really wanted to try this on my own. I have reached the point in our adoption journey when I have to keep myself very busy, or I find myself feeling down. The Dossier paper chase was a daunting task, but one that kept me focused. The wait for a referral was unbelievably difficult when every time the phone rang I hoped it was "THE CALL". Then there are no words to describe the feeling when "THE CALL" actually came other than absolute joy! I fell in love instantly with the knowledge of her; our new baby girl. With "THE CALL" of course there was more paper work to do and tracking numbers to track until all of the papers had made their way to their final destination and again.....I'm waiting. I don't wait well!
I had hoped that our case would be approved by Family Court before the holidays, but no such luck. Now I'm sure that we will be well into January before we hear any news. As much as I hate to admit it, our Lawyer and the Government officials deserve to enjoy a wonderful holiday too.
I have a "to do" list a mile long of things that I want done before our little angel comes home and I have crossed off a couple of things. I'm just no where near reaching the end and I really have no desire to get busy. I have however started taking Banjo lessons. Talk about a blast! That is really the most enjoyable thing I have done in a long time. I highly recommend it. Music is so soothing (even Banjo music, ha ha) and it's good for the soul. I've also taken up crocheting. I made Maria the cutest little hat. It's actually too big, but still cute. I'll post a picture of her in it when I learn how to do that.
In closing I'll wish a Happy New Year to us all, and God's blessings on all of the little ones waiting to come home. I pray that God grants wisdom to all of the officials who will be making the decisions that will affect the lives of so many children in Guatemala when the new adoption laws begin.
